This information arrived much later than I anticipated as I arrived in Chicago for the 2024 Pinball Expo. I did n’t get a chance to post about it because I was so busy at the show. However, Stern Pinball has made an announcement that Metallica is available for purchase right then. Let’s take a look …

Metallica Remixed – The Cabinet

As mentioned in the video trucks below section, this a remix of the 2013 transfer – same design, but with new arts, redesigned games, modern gadgets, an LCD screen ( the OG was dot matrix ), and Stern Insider Connected. Thanks to the Guided technology, the activity is much more sensitive to the music/sound than ever before, which is a fitting effect. It is available in two types, Premium and LE:

Word around Pinball Expo ( more on that below ) is that this is the first of many remasters. Which one do you believe deserves this treatment ( I can already hear TRON being sung out there )?

Metallica Enhanced – The Video

This is Stern’s only currently published element, but more will probably follow.

Harsh Pinball@Pinball Expo 2024

It was speculated that Metallica Remastered might exist because it was made public this week at Pinball Expo, but in the end, it was n’t. My best guess is they did n’t want it to stomp on X-MEN’s interest, but I do n’t know for sue – if that’s really the case, why announce it already ( and in the same week as Pinball Expo at that )? However, I was unable to directly inquire about it with a Stern staff.

All that said, here’s their hall. It should come as no surprise that it is much bigger and more remarkable than what the firm does for events like the IAAPA or Amusement Expo. For one, it’s in Stern’s garden but two, it’s even a collector/residential targeted show. It makes more financial sense to appeal to those who are currently around 80 % + of pinball buyers in a show like this than to operators who will quickly pass up a pin in favor of a crane or alley bowler. Of sure, there were some users there who also keep the bowling fire going on-site, but unfortunately the knock in elegance is the real world.

Next year, a fuller post about Pinball Expo will be available; stay tuned for more on the Arcade Heroes YouTube channel. In the meantime, what do you think of Metallica Remastered? What’remastered’ bowling pieces would you most like to see following, once?
