Helldivers 2 has been in a bit of a peaceful time recently, relatively speaking. Some players have been getting a little weary of the same old thing because Arrowhead is mostly focused on bug fixes and publishing content at a slower rate, with the terrible achievement that the game’s PC playerbase-wise hit has sparked some debate as to whether things are getting a little too static.
While the approach Arrowhead made to solving issues and creating new content in the game received a lot of first support, the outcomes have been somewhat mingled in exercise, with some gear and upgrades in special, the spear being an excellent example of, seeing a steady stream of issues afflicting them even after earlier receiving fixes. You can sort of understand the stress Arrow is having as they continues to work hard to fix problems as they arise, but you can still see how frustrated they are.
As this has been happening, the game’s 24- hour player number peak on Steam, according to SteamDB ( thanks, Forbes ), sits at 45, 315, which is only about 10 % of the initial peak of 458, 709 it recorded back in February. Now, to put this in context, that decline has n’t happened overnight and certainly is n’t that abnormal- the game’s player numbers on the platform have been gradually coming down since that point, having last hit the 200, 000 mark in late April.
This does n’t necessarily mean Arrowhead’s done anything wrong, even if the whole discourse caused by Sony with regards to account linking probably did n’t help matters. In all likelihood, a lot of it’s just down to the nature of people’s playing habits- sure, some folks will stick with one game long- term irrespective of what’s happening, but most people, at least to a degree, hop from thing to thing quite often, be those things new releases, older games they want to replay, or existing games that’ve merely had fresh updates.
Despite Arrowhead also making significant improvements to the ship package, having only fixed a problem with the Superior Packing Methodology ship module, some players are asking whether it might be worthwhile to switch up this up a little in order to try to keep them more engaged.
You’ll get about an even split between those who think sticking to the fixes to help build a more stable base for upcoming additions and those who think an update of information is required quickly in a response to a article on the subject on the show’s subreddit. There is no consensus on what this new information should be if significant things like factions are out of the problem, with lists of all the new biomes and enemy types as well as planets with fresh biomes already being created.
What are you most looking forward to seeing Arrowhead would right now with Helldivers 2? If you’ve put it down in the last few decades, is there anything you’re waiting for before you dive back in? Let us know above!
